Devin R. Sullivan joined Zausmer, Kaufman, August, Caldwell & Tayler, P.C. in September of 2011. His practice is focused on commercial litigation and insurance defense.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Sullivan practiced commercial litigation at Jenner & Block, LLP in Chicago. While at Jenner & Block, Mr. Sullivan litigated multiple matters with high exposure to his clients. His representation, for example, included an estate dispute valued at over one billion dollars, where the parties were litigating a multitude of complicated real estate transfers and trust disbursement issues. Mr. Sullivan has litigated matters in court as well as arbitration proceedings.
Mr. Sullivan earned his J.D. at Harvard Law School in 2010, graduating cum laude. While in law school, he worked at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts, where he drafted several oppositions to motions to suppress evidence, as a well as an opposition to a habeas corpus petition. He also worked at the Department of Justice’s Environmental and Natural Resources Division and the Federal Trade Commission, and served as Technical Editor for the Environmental Law Review. He received his B.B.A from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan in 2007, graduating with High Distinction and twice receiving University Honors.
While at Zausmer, Kaufman, August, Caldwell & Tayler, P.C., Mr. Sullivan has followed up on the academic success he achieved at both Harvard Law School and the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. With a focus on litigation, Mr. Sullivan is able to bring an intellectual and detail oriented approach to the Firm’s clients while also understanding the complexities necessary to deliver real world business solutions when required. This approach makes him a perfect addition to the Firm’s complex litigation team.
Mr. Sullivan focuses in the practice areas of: appeals; insurance law, including coverage analysis; general litigation; emminent domain; and liability and insurance defense.
Mr. Sullivan is admitted to the State Bars of Michigan and Illinois.
